Mladenovic to open against Giorgi in Fed Cup 1st round

MARSEILLE, France (AP) Kristina Mladenovic will open against Camila Giorgi when France meets Italy in the first round of the Fed Cup on Saturday.

In the second singles, Caroline Garcia will take on Italy No. 1 Sara Errani.

After Sunday's reverse singles, the indoor hard-court tie could be decided by the doubles between Oceane Dodin and Pauline Parmentier against Martina Caregaro and Errani.

France leads Italy 7-3 on head-to-head, and came out on top of their last meeting last year in the first round in Genoa, where it recovered from a 2-0 deficit.

France is a two-time champion, and Italy a four-time winner.
