ITF: no worries for Davis Cup final in Serbia

The International Tennis Federation will make enquiries about security but has no plans to alter plans for the Davis Cup final in Serbia following the outbreak of violence by Serbian football fans in Italy.

ITF president Francesco Ricci Bitti tells the ANSA news agency that beyond checking with the Serbian tennis federation, ''there are no particular worries.''

Ricci Bitti also says that France, which will face Serbia for the title Dec. 3-5 in Belgrade, has not made any requests since Tuesday's European Championship qualifier between Italy and Serbia was abandoned.

Serbian fans in Genoa threw flares and fireworks onto the pitch, burned a flag and broke barriers, leading to eight arrests in Italy and 19 in Serbia.
