Girls tennis players qualify for state

Northmont High School senior Marianne Bonanno qualified for the girls state tennis tournament Thursday by advancing to the semifinals of the Division I Southwest District tournament at the Lindner ATP Tennis Center in Mason. Bonanno is perfect on the season at 25-0.

In the Division II district at Centerville, Waynesville senior Alyssa Ritchie won two matches to advance to state. Doubles pairs Anne Connelly and Jackie White of Oakwood and Sally Trout and Andrea Fetters of Milton-Union will also move on to state. District semifinal and final matches begin Saturday at 9 a.m.

Boys soccer

Alter 1, Carroll 1: Joe Zimmerman scored to give the Knights a 1-0 halftime lead, but Carroll's Kyle Johnson scored the equalizer midway through the second half.

Girls soccer

Miamisburg 3, Xenia 1: Junior midfielder Macey Riese scored two goals for the Vikings with assists from sophomore forward Erica Ytterbo on both.

Girls volleyball

Oakwood d. Waynesville 25-9, 25-8, 25-16: Junior setter Heather Saunier led the Lumberjacks (18-4) with nine aces and 19 assists.
