- Eurosport shows US Open in 3D

IFA 2010 à BERLIN. Eurosport will broadcast the US Open tennis tournament in 3D for demonstrations at IFA. Using a feed on the Eutelsat Eurobird 9A satelltie, the US Open in 3D will be available on a dedicated 3D signal for an exclusive broadcast on PanasonicÕs booth at IFA.
The 3D signals are being transmitted to PanasonicÕs booth by the Eurobird 9A satellite for display on PanasonicÕs Viera 3D Plasma TVs. The event is also to show PanasonicÕs full end-to-end 3D capabilities, from 3D professional camcorders on court, to consumer Viera plasma displays.
Andrew Wallace, Eutelsat chief commercial officer, added: ÒThis partnership with Eurosport leverages EutelsatÕs 3D experience and the core asset of our broadcast satellites to deliver a new generation of rich content requiring a 15 Mbps signal to fully appreciate stunning 3D effects in the home. Following our collaboration with Eurosport for 3D transmissions of Roland Garros tennis in May this year, we are delighted to team once again with EuropeÕs premier all-sports channel and to transmit this compelling sports content to PanasonicÕs 3D-enabled displays at IFA.Ó
At a press conference in Berlin this morning, Panasonic launched the worldÕs first 42? and 46? plasma 3D TVs, and the worldÕs first consumer AVCHD 3D camcorder as well as other 3D-related product ranges including 3D home cinema systems, 3D TVs, 3D glasses and 3D Blu-ray players. The company also said 3D connected TV would be coming to PanasonicÕs 3D TVs in 2011 through their Viera Cast service.
