Edmund to start for Britain against Serbia in Davis Cup

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:05 p.m. ET

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) Kyle Edmund will open for defending champion Britain against Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia in the Davis Cup quarterfinals.

In Friday's second singles, James Ward will play Dusan Lajovic.

Both teams are playing without their top stars. Britain is without Wimbledon champion Andy Murray and Serbia is without the top-ranked Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki.

In Saturday's doubles, Dom Inglot and Jamie Murray are scheduled to play Tipsarevic and Nenad Zimonjic. The reverse singles are Sunday. Captains can change their players after the opening day, however.
