Dokic's boyfriend involved in plane incident

Published Jan. 14, 2010 3:39 a.m. ET

Australian tennis player Jelena Dokic's boyfriend and his brother were involved in an argument with another passenger and a crew member on a flight into Melbourne on Thursday.

A statement from International Management Group, Dokic's agency, said a female passenger on the flight from Hobart to Melbourne complained that the person behind her - Dokic's boyfriend Tin Bikic - kept knocking her seat.

``Tin and his brother Borna Bikic (Jelena's coach) became involved in an argument with the passenger and then a member of cabin crew,'' the statement said. ``The brothers were met by police after the flight and explained what occurred. They were spoken to about their behavior and no further action will be taken.''

The statement said both Tin and Borna Bikic ``unreservedly apologize to the woman and cabin staff involved.''

It said Dokic was on the flight but was not involved in the incident.

Dokic lost in the second round of the Hobart International on Wednesday, to second-seeded Shahar Peer of Israel 6-2, 6-2.

Last year, on her grand slam comeback after a three-year absence due to injuries and personal difficulties, Dokic advanced to the Australian Open quarterfinals.

Dokic has had a history of distractions involving her support team. Her father Damir, from whom she is now estranged, had run-ins with officials at several tournaments and had since been sentenced to jail for threatening the Australian ambassador to Serbia.
