Cool iguana interrupts tennis match, poses for a selfie, does a victory lap

The highest-ranked players typically get byes through the opening rounds of the non-major tennis tournaments, and thus, those rounds are usually limited in star power. But not today, my friends.

On Wednesday, Tommy Haas and Jiri Vesely were nearing the end of a first-round showdown at the Miami Open when they were paid a visit by a little green tennis fan just trying to get a good view of the action:

Vesely did not seem to care much for our lizard friend, as he can be seen at the beginning of the clip complaining to the chair umpire about its presence, as though the chair umpire was going to mess with it.

The fearless Haas then went over to — of course — get a selfie with the iguana. He succeeded:

Our friend then took off down the scoreboard it was perched upon, deftly evaded security, scampered across the court and sat atop another scoreboard to chill some more.

The delay — eight minutes in all, according to Tennis Channel — came at a crucial time in the match, 3-3 in the third. It was Vesely, though, that shook off the distraction and took care of business the rest of the match:

Vesely advances to face No. 19 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the next round. No word if the iguana has tickets to that one too.
