The ITF says Brazilian tennis player Fernando Romboli has completed an 8 1/2-month suspension for a doping violation.
The International Tennis Federation says Romboli tested positive for two banned diuretics, furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide, at a lower-tier ATP challenger event in Bogota, Colombia, on July 11, 2012.
The ITF says the 24-year-old player argued the substances came from a contaminated supplement that had been prescribed by a doctor and denied any intent to enhance his performance.
The ITF says it accepted Romboli's defense and gave him a reduced penalty because there was no ''significant fault or negligence.''

The 8 1/2-month suspension was backdated to Sept. 1, 2012, and expired on Wednesday.
