Andy Roddick returning to Davis Cup in 2011

Andy Roddick is returning to the U.S. Davis Cup team in 2011 after skipping the event this year.

In a statement released Thursday by the U.S. Tennis Association, Roddick calls winning the Davis Cup a ''top priority'' and says he thinks it's something players ''should commit to for the entire season and not when it is convenient.''

The United States and new coach Jim Courier will play at Chile in the first round March 4-6.

Roddick is a former No. 1-ranked player and the 2003 U.S. Open champion. He is 31-11 in Davis Cup play, trailing only John McEnroe's 41 for most singles victories. Roddick helped the United States win the 2007 title.
