ANDY MURRAY hopes a decent display at this week's Shanghai Rolex Masters can ease him towards a place at the ATP World Tour finals.
The Scots tennis star is in China for one of only three tournaments left on his schedule as he attempts to qualify for the end-of-season showcase event for the world's top eight players at London's O2 Arena.
After losing out to Ivan Ljubicic in the quarter-finals of the China Open in Beijing last week, Murray is unsure how he will fare in the coming days but admits his ultimate goal is that ticket to the O2 Arena.
Murray said: "I feel okay and I would like to win some matches here.
"My goal is to qualify for the ATP World Tour finals. I really enjoyed playing there last year."
Murray joins the action when he faces either Radek Stepanek or Chinese qualifier Bai Yan tomorrow.
Glasgow's Jamie Baker scored back-to-back wins to reach the final qualifying round for this week's Tiburon Challenger in California.
Baker beat US wild cards Yoram Tall and Sky Lovill in straight sets and now meets Lincoln's Dan Cox for a place in the main draw.
