Andy Murray meets Fabrice Muamba after match

Published Nov. 9, 2012 6:25 p.m. ET

Shortly after Andy Murray advanced to the semifinals of the ATP finals, he stopped to pose for a picture with former Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba and actor Kevin Spacey.

Muamba was forced to retire from football in August, five months after collapsing on the field from cardiac arrest while playing for Bolton against Tottenham in front of a global television audience.

Murray says ''I remember exactly where I was when it happened. I was watching the match on the TV in the States. ... Just couldn't believe it happened.''

Murray adds ''it was very cool to meet him. He's got a pretty incredible story to tell, so it was nice.''

Muamba must have been impressed with Murray as well, because he tweeted the photo soon after it was taken.
