A day after being stretchered off the court in tears at the French Open, German tennis player Sabine Lisicki says her body let her down.

Lisicki had a match point while leading 5-2 in the third set but soon was overcome with dizziness and cramping. She eventually lost to Vera Zvonareva 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the second round.

She says on her website, ''I'm sad that my body let me down. Doctors recently discovered that I'm intolerant to gluten - meaning I can't eat e.g. pasta. One of the biggest energy sources ...''

Lisicki adds that her ''body needs to adjust to the big change and needs some time.''
