Zimbabwe appoints Pagels as national team coach

The Zimbabwe Football Association has appointed Klaus Dieter Pagels as national team coach until the end of the 2014 World Cup qualifying competition.
ZIFA says it has moved the German from his role as a technical adviser to interim head coach following the resignation of Rahman Gumbo last week.
Gumbo quit after Zimbabwe failed to reach next year's African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
Pagels, who was seconded to ZIFA from the German Olympic Committee, takes over after Zimbabwe's team was disbanded by the federation following a long and damaging match-fixing scandal.
ZIFA chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze says the interim coach ''will be tasked with the rebuilding of the senior national team.''
Zimbabwe has one point from two games in its World Cup qualifying group.
