Russia left back Yuri Zhirkov has sat out part of his team's training session and had ice strapped to his left knee.

Neither Zhirkov nor Russia coach Dick Advocaat spoke after Wednesday's workout in Sulejowek, just outside Warsaw, and it was not clear if the former Chelsea defender had picked up an injury in his team's 1-1 draw with Poland.

The 28-year-old Zhirkov, who now plays for Anzhi Makhachkala in the Russian league, is a veteran of Russia's run to the 2008 European Championship semifinals.

Russia leads Group A going into its final group match Saturday against Greece in Warsaw.
