Wotherspoon hails dream move

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of goalkeeper Dorus de Vries from Wolves on a free transfer.
New Wolves manager Kenny Jackett is looking to cut the wage bill at Molineux and he had informed the 32-year-old Dutchman that he could leave the club if a suitable offer was made to him.
A return to his native Holland was mooted at one stage for De Vries, but he will now stay in England after agreeing personal terms with Forest and passing a medical at the City Ground.
De Vries is vastly experienced when it comes to life in the Football League, having made close to 200 appearances for the Swans, but he found regular football hard to come by during a two-year spell at Wolves.
Forest manager Billy Davies told the club's official website: "Dorus is a very good signing for us. We have a good, young pool of goalkeepers at the club but he brings with him an abundance of experience which will be of benefit to everyone.
"He played a pivotal role in Swansea's meteoric rise through the leagues and was unfortunate not to get more games at Wolves.
"To sign a goalkeeper of his calibre on a free transfer is a great piece of business."
The 29-year-old clocked up just under 200 appearances for the League One side since initially joining on loan in 2008 and was a free agent after his contract expired.
"I was massively impressed with this club from the first moment," he told the club's official website.
"Joining Fleetwood is an exciting prospect and I jumped at the chance after seeing the plans and hearing the chairman's vision.
"I'm an ambitious person and an ambitious player. The manager and chairman have shown me this club is geared to success and I want to play my role in that success with Fleetwood Town."
The centre back played for the likes of Northwich and Accrington before helping Boro to double promotions.
The 23-year-old completed his move from Hibernian yesterday after making more than 150 appearances for the Edinburgh club, including 38 last season.
The Perth-born midfielder supported St Johnstone as a boy and was once on their books before continuing his football education at Celtic and Hibs.
Wotherspoon, who has signed a two-year deal, told the club's official website: "I grew up supporting St Johnstone and started off here playing for the under-12s so it's great to be back."
On the reaction of his family and friends, Wotherspoon said: "I've always wanted to sign for Saints so they are delighted. I'll have plenty of family support at games."
Manager Tommy Wright added: "We're delighted to get David signed up. It has happened quickly because we didn't think we'd be able to get him, but I spoke to him and it was obvious how much he wanted to sign for the club."
Wotherspoon is set to make his debut in the Europa League on July 18 as Saints await the winner of the clash between Crusaders and Rosenborg.
The former Scotland Under-21 international said: "I was at the game against Monaco in 1999 with my dad and my brother and that game is one of my best football memories.
"It really was fantastic to see St Johnstone play against players like Fabien Barthez, David Trezeguet and all the other stars they had in that team.
"Saints got a draw and watching games like that are what makes you want to play football.
"It will be a real honour to play in a Europa League for the club, but first I have to get settled in and work hard to show the manager I deserve to be in the team."
