Wolves beat Stoke 2-1 in Premier League

David Jones and Steven Fletcher scored first-half goals Saturday in Wolverhampton Wanderers' 2-1 victory over Stoke in the Premier League.
Jones brilliantly volleyed in a free kick in the 37th minute before Fletcher turned the ball home from close range two minutes later for a goal on his Wolves debut to give the hosts a 2-0 lead at Molineux.
Stoke midfielder Abdoulaye Faye reduced the margin with a 55th-minute header.
Kenwyne Jones, who became Stoke's record signing at 8 million pounds earlier this week, hit the post early in the game but limped off injured in the 14th minute.
''He has got a scan tomorrow,'' Pulis told the Press Association. ''It's just above his ankle. We had a really good start and then Kenwyne went off and it just took the wind out of our sails. We dropped off so deep, it was embarrassing.''
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy was understandably delighted with the way Fletcher, who cost a reported 6.5 million pounds from Burnley, and fellow debutant, defender Jelle van Damme, performed.
''I thought they were great,'' he said. ''It turned out not to be a convincing win but it was a convincing performance.''
Fletcher was substituted in the 51st with a foot injury, but McCarthy declared it was ''nothing sinister.''
