A Winnipeg soccer player has been sentenced to one year probation and ordered to pay $1,500 in medical costs to a goalie he assaulted during a game.

Greg Adamiec, 25, was convicted of assault causing bodily harm for the July 2009 incident.

Scott Keast, 34, was kicked and stomped in the head by Adamiec during the Manitoba Major Soccer League match.

Keast had jumped on a loose ball that Adamiec was pursuing on a potential breakaway.

Witnesses say Adamiec became irate when Keast wrapped his hands around both the ball and his leg while making the save.
