West Ham still bottom after goalless draw

West Ham remains rooted to the bottom of the table after being held to a third consecutive Premier League draw by Blackpool on Saturday.
A Carlton Cole effort that hit the post late in the second half was as close as the Hammers came to scoring against a Blackpool side featuring 11 changes from the midweek defeat to Aston Villa.
West Ham twice felt it was denied a penalty in the first half, initially for an apparent trip on Pablo Barrera by Stephen Crainey and then after Craig Cathcart appeared to block Victor Obinna's shot with his arm.
Robert Green was called into action several times in the home goal and was relieved to see Charlie Adam's effort from near the halfway line drift narrowly over.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway had defended his decision to make full use of his squad against Villa but he was forced into a change at half time, with 'keeper Matthew Gilks departing with a back injury to be replaced by Richard Kingson.
Striker Marlon Harewood, on against his old club, had a goal ruled out for offside before West Ham substitute Cole deflected the ball against the post moments after coming on but neither side was able to break the deadlock.
West Ham, which has not won in the league since Sept. 25, moves on to nine points but remains below 19th-place Wolves on goal difference.
Blackpool is now 14th, two points above the relegation zone.
