West Brom beats Norwich 1-0 to earn 1st win

Nigeria striker Peter Odemwingie's early goal gave West Bromwich Albion a 1-0 victory at promoted Norwich on Sunday, earning his team its first points of the Premier League campaign.
Odemwingie, making his first start of the season, pounced on a mistake by Norwich defender Ritchie de Laet in the third minute to clip a neat finish into the bottom corner.
The former Lille and Lokomotiv Moscow forward had a penalty saved in the 76th minute following Steve Morison's clumsy challenge on Steven Reid but that miss didn't affect the result, leaving Norwich without a win after four games back in the top division.
West Brom had lost its first three games of the season, including defeats to expected title contenders Manchester United and Chelsea.
''I think there will be a new atmosphere in the dressing room now,'' Odemwingie said.
The visitors went ahead after just 126 seconds at Carrow Road, as De Laet failed to deal with Nicky Shorey's long ball forward, succeeding only in heading the ball into Odemwingie's path.
West Brom's top scorer last season showed great composure to guide his shot past goalkeeper Declan Rudd.
''I've been injured for a few weeks so I'm happy,'' Odemwingie said. ''It's my first goal of the season and I am where I need to be, mentally.''
West Brom almost went into halftime 2-0 ahead but Graham Dorrans' long-range effort thumped against the post in the 40th, keeping Norwich in the match.
Bradley Johnson and Morison wasted the hosts' best chances in a second half they dominated, although they should have gone further behind when Reid tumbled over following Morison's attempted tackle.
Odemwingie's penalty was at a good height for Rudd, who parried the ball away.
Late pressure, including a couple of penalty appeals of their own, failed to yield an equalizer for Norwich.
