Watch Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic combine to save Man United vs. Palace

To say Manchester United have been in a rough patch would be being gracious. The fact is, as of just over two weeks, the Red Devils were off to their worst start in Premier League history. Then, a win against Tottenham on Sunday breathed life into Manchester United. But as quickly as that flicker of life emerged, it nearly vanished Wednesday when United visited Selhurst Park.

Lowly Crystal Palace, floating around the relegation zone, had the Red Devils on the ropes. With the match tied at 1-1 and time melting off of the clock, it looked like United's flash of good form was just that, a flash. Until a moment of brilliance from two of United's most important players: Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

That setup pass is exactly what a team pays well in excess of $100 million for. The finish? Vintage Zlatan. Pogba had gotten in on the act earlier, to boot, scoring just before the stroke of half time to open the scoring.

Beating Crystal Palace doesn't make Manchester United title contenders, but it's bigger than it looks at just face value. This stretch in the Premier League, where the matches are seemingly every other day, is daunting.

Bad teams can't handle the density. Good teams find ways to win the matches, even if they're not at their best. Are Manchester United a good team? If they've turned the corner, they very well could be good enough to make the Champions League.
