Warnock happy to avoid Henry

The R's face a difficult New Year's Eve trip across London to play a Gunners side boosted by the impeding return of their record goalscorer. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed Henry will sign a two-month deal to return to the club if insurance agreements can be worked out with his parent club New York Red Bulls. Warnock admitted he too is looking at the possibility of short-term loans from Major League Soccer, but admits there is nobody available of Henry's calibre. "We are looking in that area as well," Warnock said. "It is great to get somebody in for a couple of months if you can. Unfortunately for us we have not found anybody at the moment. "As for Henry, it is fantastic. I do love him. I think he is an amazing player and for me to see him back in the Premier League [is brilliant]. "I am just glad the transfer window does not open until January 1. "He is everything you like about football and oozes class. "I don't think age matters really when you have got experience. He is going to get plenty of the ball, plenty of opportunities the way Arsenal play and I think he will do very well. "They say you should never go back, but in Arsenal's case they have lost a couple to the African Nations Cup. "It can only help them. It is not as if they are signing him for two years. "I don't know where they can go wrong for two months. I think it is a fantastic signing." While QPR may not have to deal with Henry on Saturday, they will face the unenviable task of attempting to shackle in-form Robin van Persie. The Holland international knows he must net a hat-trick against the Hoops if he is to break Alan Shearer's record of Premier League goals scored in a calendar year. "He had enough chances to score against Wolves," Warnock said. "I saw the game and he must have had five or six great chances so we have got to hope he has another off day tomorrow. "He is a fantastic player and probably the best striker in the Premier League at this moment in time so we will have to be on our toes." Warnock looked flustered coming into the press conference as he attempts to juggle the upcoming matches and potential transfers. The R's boss has been open about wanting to bring in players during the January transfer window and was today asked about a possible move for Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic. "I just read the papers about the players I am looking at," Warnock said. "I keep smiling. "You will just have to wait until something happens and then I will tell you. "But I won't be speculating about bids or players. "I am sure you will be giving me names every time we have a press conference between now and the end of January." Asked again whether Jelavic was a target, he retorted: "I won't be commenting on him or anybody else in the transfer window. "That is how it is and I will try and get my targets as early as I can, if possible."
