Wales caretaker manager Brian Flynn will be without newly retired defender Danny Gabbidon and strikers Craig Bellamy and Robert Earnshaw for the European Championship qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland.
Gabbidon was selected in Flynn's initial 24-man squad but the West Ham defender announced on Monday he was retiring from international football with immediate effect.
Captain Bellamy was left out because of a knee problem, even though he played for Cardiff at the weekend, and Earnshaw has withdrawn with a thigh strain.
Flynn called up uncapped Southampton youngster Ryan Doble to replace Earnshaw, while Stoke defender Danny Collins returned to the squad for the first time since August 2007.
Flynn is in temporary charge of Wales for at least its next two matches following the resignation of John Toshack, who stood down after the 1-0 defeat to Montenegro in the team's opening Group G match.
Wales plays Bulgaria in Cardiff on Friday and Switzerland in Basel four days later.
