Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas says Jermain Defoe will miss England's friendly against Brazil on Wednesday after injuring his left ankle in the Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion.

Villas-Boas says Defoe will be withdrawn from the squad and could be out for two to three weeks after limping off in the first half of Spurs' 1-0 win at the Hawthorns on Sunday.

England manager Roy Hodgson has three other strikers - Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck - in his squad, while winger Theo Walcott could also play up front against Brazil at Wembley Stadium.
