Villarreal signed coach Marcelino Garcia Toral to a two-year contract extension that keeps him with the Spanish league club until 2016.
The 48-year-old Marcelino has been rewarded with the extension after guiding recently promoted Villarreal to a strong start.
Villarreal is fourth in the standings with 23 points following Sunday's 1-1 draw against second-place Atletico Madrid.
Villarreal, which reached the Champions League semifinals in 2006, did not release financial terms.
