Van Bommel prefers England move
Aston Villa have been linked with Mark van Bommel after the Bayern Munich captain's agent revealed that a move to England is a preference.
The Holland international will be out of contract at the Allianz Arena in the summer and it has been suggested that he could be sold in the January transfer window.
Bayern are unlikely to offer a new deal and would rather earn some money for Van Bommel as opposed to allowing him to leave for free at the end of the season.
Speculation has suggested that AC Milan have been offered the 33-year-old midfielder, while Gerard Houllier remains keen to bring some experience to his Villa squad.
Van Bommel's representative, Mino Raiola, told De Telegraaf when asked about an approach to Milan: "And a couple of English clubs. None of them directly declined.
"There is some interest, but not serious yet. Many clubs will think about it. Mark prefers to move to England."
