Valencia appoints Miroslav Djukic as coach to 2014

Valencia has appointed former defender Miroslav Djukic as its new coach through 2014.
The club said in a statement on Wednesday that the 47-year-old Serbian replaces Ernesto Valverde, who left the club after it narrowly missed out on a Champions League berth on the last day of the Spanish league season.
Djukic played at Valencia from 1997-2003, making 157 appearances. The club, which finished fifth, said ''Welcome home, Miroslav Djukic'' on its website.
Djukic arrives from Valladolid, where he has coached since 2011, leading it to the top tier and securing its standing there with a 14th-place finish this season.
Djukic, who will be presented at Mestalla later Wednesday, said he believed that ''together we can go forward and make Valencia's fans' dreams come true.''
