Uruguay striker Sebastian Abreu has changed clubs in Brazil, leaving Botafogo to sign with Figueirense.
Figueirense said on Friday that Abreu will play on loan until the end of 2013.
Abreu, who played for Uruguay in the 2010 World Cup, had been unhappy at Botafogo under new coach Oswaldo Alvarez and requested a transfer.
Botafogo has just signed former Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf. The club last won the Brazilian league in 1995 but is one of the most traditional in Brazil, while Figueirense recently began playing in Brazil's first division.

Abreu previously played for La Coruna and Real Sociedad in Spain, Cruz Azul and America in Mexico and River Plate and San Lorenzo in Argentina.
