A sorry season for the Cottagers sees them languishing in the relegation zone heading into a meeting with Stoke on Tuesday, with their Premier League status now hanging in the balance. The summer departure of Roy Hodgson has hit the club hard, with Mark Hughes unable to repeat the success of his predecessor. The under-fire coach now sees his neck on the line, with a disgruntled fanbase far from convinced that he is the right man for the job. Northern Ireland international Hughes feels the fans have every right to air their displeasure, but insists the mood within the camp remains upbeat. "It's nothing new," he said. "It's not unique at this club; it happens at any club at any time when things aren't going well - they voice their opinion, which they are entitled to do. "Last season's gone, we know what we can do and what we are good at. We know what got us success over the past couple of years so we've got to keep working hard and not let the belief and confidence go because if that goes, then we really are in trouble. "We've still got a lot of togetherness and confidence in the dressing room that we can turn it round and start going the right way." Hughes knows it is important that Fulham maintain a united front heading forward, with the next few weeks set to make or break their season. "The most important thing for us is that we don't start pointing the finger and saying we're not scoring goals at one end and conceding at the other and start picking holes in our team," he said. "The most important thing is that we stick together and keep going. "We haven't gone from being a good side to not a good side overnight. There's things we can work on but there's a lot of good things in the squad we've got to hold onto and keep building on."
