United keeper De Gea 'offered $96.1m deal' to make Madrid move

David de Gea stood to earn £66.7m ($96.1m) if his move from Manchester United to Real Madrid had gone through, according to a document released by whistle-blowing website Football Leaks.
The Spain goalkeeper was close to joining Madrid on the final day of the summer transfer window, but a failure to complete the required paperwork before the deadline saw the deal collapse.
The document claims De Gea would have signed a six-year contract at the Bernabeu and received £9m-a-year ($12.9m-a-year) in wages as well as a £8.4m ($12.1m) signing-on fee.
Real Madrid and Manchester United have refused to comment on the document.
In September, De Gea signed a new four-year contract with United, believed to be worth in the region of £200,000-a-week ($288,000-a-week).
As part of the new deal, United have the option to extend the 24-year-old's stay at Old Trafford by a further year.
