Liverpool's Stephen Sama and United's Paul Pogba were dismissed in quick succession in the second half on Sunday with the scores at 2-0, Sama for giving away a penalty and Pogba while taking it. Reds captain Conor Coady and United defender Tyler Blackett then picked up red cards late on. The Reds led through a brace from Adam Morgan before they had Sama sent off for bringing down Ryan Tunnicliffe in the area. Pogba scored from the spot but was penalised by referee David Coote for stopping midway through his run-up and was shown a bizarre second yellow card. Larnell Cole then scored the penalty. A double from Ravel Morrison put United 3-2 up before both teams had another player sent off, Blackett and Coady seeing red for an off-the-ball clash. United will face holders Chelsea in the two-legged semi-finals, with Aston Villa taking on Sheffield United in the other tie.
