Ulsan Hyundai took home a comfortable lead in the Asian Champions League semifinals after beating Uzbekistan champion and host Bunyodkor 3-1 in the first leg on Wednesday.

Ulsan, in the semis for only the second time, will host the second leg next Wednesday in South Korea.

Bunyodkor made the ideal start in Jar Stadium when Jovlon Ibrokhimov drove in his first goal of the campaign after just five minutes.

Ulsan couldn't reply until 14 minutes before the break. Rafinha rifled a shot from the edge of the area to equalize.

Headed goals after halftime gave Ulsan the win.

Kim Shin-wook met Kim Seung-yong's corner eight minutes in, then Lee Keun-ho looped in Kim Seung-yong's free kick in the 72nd.

Bunyodkor squandered a chance to score again, as Jasur Khasanov hit the post from the penalty spot.

On Monday, Al Ittihad beat Al Ahli 1-0 in the other semifinal, an all-Saudi affair.
