The lawyer who changed the face of European football when he pushed through the 1995 Bosman ruling on transfers and limits on foreigners is backing a legal challenge by a player agent over UEFA's imposition of Financial Fair Play rules.
Jean-Louis Dupont says the UEFA rules to contain debt among clubs playing in its competitions impose too many trade and financial restrictions within the 27-nation European Union.
In a statement, he supported local agent Daniel Striani, who fears his income from transfers and representation will dwindle because of the rules.
Objections can be filed with the European Commission and if it is rejected it can be pushed through to the European Court of Justice. That court, the EU's highest, brought about the Bosman ruling 18 years ago.
