Nicolas Castillo scored in the 69th minute to lift Universidad Catolica to a 1-1 draw against Brazilian side Sao Paulo in a first-leg semifinal of the Copa Sudamericana on Thursday.
Sao Paulo took a 1-0 lead with a header from Rafael Toloi in the 21st in an evenly matched encounter at the Chilean capital.
The second leg is Wednesday at Sao Paulo with the overall winner advancing to the final of South America's No. 2 club competition.
