About 100 street traders have marched on the South African football association headquarters to protest their treatment by FIFA in the run-up to the World Cup.

The traders, some of whom sell food to construction workers at the nearby Soccer City stadium, said Wednesday they were being put out of business by FIFA. They say FIFA, which has strict marketing rules, wants them removed from the site.

The traders handed a memorandum of grievances to a SAFA legal official, but were prevented from entering the stadium.

FIFA and Johannesburg city officials defended World Cup marketing rules recently and said they were in discussions to include informal traders, which have a strong tradition in South Africa, during the tournament.
