Toulouse have been hit by the news Andre-Pierre Gignac will be out
for at least three weeks after suffering a tear in his adductor
muscle.
Gignac suffered the injury during Sunday's goalless draw
against Lyon and tests on Monday revealed the 24-year-old has a
tear in his adductor muscle.
"It's a really harsh blow but, as usual, we're going to deal
with it," coach Alain Casanova told L'Equipe.
Club doctors have yet to determine the precise length of
Gignac's lay-off but reports suggest the forward will be out of
action for three to four weeks, missing the Ligue 1 matches against
Lorient, Paris Saint-Germain and Lens as well as the Coupe de
France tie against Brest.
Gignac, who has scored seven goals this season, will also
miss France's friendly against Spain on March 3.
Although he admits it is a blow as he tries to cement a place
in Les Bleus' World Cup squad, Gignac accepts it could be to his
benefit as he has been struggling with a groin problem since the
beginning of the season.
"It's true that it's an important match," said Gignac of the
Spain clash. "But now you also have to put it into perspective.
"It could be a bad thing for a good thing. This nick will at
least let me recover well and to continue to look after myself. I
will come back stronger."
