Former Germany and Cologne goalkeeper Harald ''Toni'' Schumacher has returned to his former Bundesliga club as one of two vice presidents.

Schumacher was elected late Monday, along with new president Werder Spinner. Cologne had been without a president since the resignation in November of Wolfgang Overath. The club is seeking to escape relegation with two matches remaining.

Schumacher gained notoriety for a collision with France defender Patrick Battiston in the semifinals of the 1982 World Cup. He was fired by Cologne after publishing an autobiography in 1987 that alleged doping in German football.
