With 5,000 riot police deployed throughout Belgrade to prevent violence, Partizan defeated Red Star 1-0 Saturday in a mostly peaceful match between rivals.
There was no major violence before or during the match at the Red Star stadium attended by 30,000 fans.
Fearing rival fans would clash, Serbian lawmakers amended the criminal law Friday to pave the way for tougher penalties against violence.
About 150 were injured Oct. 10 during clashes between police and far-right supporters who tried to disrupt a gay pride march in the capital. Two days later, Serbian fans rioted in Italy during a European Championship qualifying match, causing it to be called off after seven minutes.
