Finland's Juho Makela, the leading scorer in his domestic league this season, has signed a 15-month contract with Sydney FC in Australian football's A-League.
Born in Oulu, Finland, Makela scored 16 goals in 18 matches with HJK Helsinki in the Finnish Veikkausliiga and won the striker of the year award.
Sydney FC, which is in ninth place in the 11-team league, said in a statement Saturday that Makela will arrive in Australia in early January.
