Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder would welcome a move to the Premier League, according to his agent.
The 28-year-old Holland midfielder is being chased by a number of Europe's top clubs and, although his representative Soren Lerby dismissed speculation linking him with QPR, may opt for a switch to an English club.
Lerby told BBC Sport: "He is absolutely not interested in QPR and we haven't heard directly from anyone there.
"England probably has the top league in Europe, so it could appeal, but Wes would want to play for a top team."
Sneijder is currently embroiled in a contract dispute with Inter and has not played for the Milanese giants since September 25 - despite regaining fitness over two months ago.
Lerby added: "Wesley is one of the best midfielders in Europe. He is fully recovered from injury and just loves to play football, so we need to find a solution to his situation with Inter.
"It's a very, very strange situation for all of us. We should know a lot more in the next week to 10 days."
Tottenham have been tipped as Sneijder's likely destination in the past but Spurs announced they will sign midfielder Lewis Holtby from Schalke in the summer and Moussa Dembele has been in impressive form since arriving at White Hart Lane.
Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had earlied claimed he had been offered the chance to take Sneijder to Loftus Road this month.
"I was asked by one agent if I wanted to sign Sneijder," said Redknapp.
"Of course I do. However, he's on about ?200,000 a week and now he wants to join QPR?
"I won't name the agent, but let's just say I think a deal is unlikely."
The duo were integral to the Red Devils' promotion campaign last season and have continued their form for Richie Barker's outfit this term.
Chief executive Richard Low told the club's official website: "We were expecting interest in a number of our players during the transfer window because of our performances this season and I imagine that will continue throughout the next few weeks.
"A Championship club has come in for both Hope and Kyle but their offers don't come anywhere near our valuation for either player."
Meanwhile, striker John Akinde has been told he can leave during the transfer window, after making just 10 substitute appearances this season.
The 26-year-old scored six times in 22 starts for the seventh club of his career but did not feature in the last two matches and is now a free agent.
"We're parting on good terms and after a discussion with Chris it was agreed a move was the best thing for all concerned," manager Mark Yates told the club's official website.
"I think we all accept the move didn't work out - sometimes these things happen in football - and we wish him all the very best for the future."
The club also announced fellow winger Jake Taylor will be available to face Everton on Monday night after the club extended his loan stay from Reading for a further month.
The Wales Under-21 international played eight times for the club since arriving in November.
The defender is in China after troubled Hearts agreed a ?400,000 fee with Shandong Luneng Taishan.
According to reports, the move is likely to be short-term until November, paving the way for Rangers - who are under a transfer embargo until September - to make a move then.
The Glasgow giants failed to lure McGowan to Ibrox in the August window but McCoist admits the player is still on his radar.
He said: "He's a good player. Ryan is a player we obviously tried to get earlier.
"He's like everybody else, we keep a completely open mind and we monitor players who we have been watching and we will continue to do that.
"I would absolutely rule nothing out."
Rangers are unable to recruit new players this month but can sign free agents from September 1, meaning McCoist will be looking to secure his targets on pre-contract agreements over the coming weeks.
He said: "There is no progress as yet but we've got one or two players we have been looking at and we've got on the radar.
"Our chief scout has been keeping us updated but there is nothing to report yet."
While making plans to bolster his squad later in the year, McCoist is also keen to reward some of his current players with new deals, including defender Chris Hegarty, who is on a one-year contract.
The manager said: "If there is one player in the squad who probably deserves a contract, it would be Hegarty.
"I haven't had any great lengthy discussions with him, just brief discussions with him.
"He's earned the opportunity to get himself a new contract, with the way he has come into the team and the way he has performed.
"We have to look outside but we have to reward the players who deserve new contracts as well. He is one we will look at."
While a new deal could be good news for Hegarty, there was bad news for another young defender, Darren Cole.
He could miss the rest of the season if surgery is required on the ankle injury which forced him out of the midweek win at Annan, having recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
McCoist said: "The immediate signs are that, unfortunately, it looks as though he will need an operation.
"I don't want to pre-empt the situation but, if it is an operation, we will do well to see him again this season. It's a real shame because he has been injured for a while.
"I can see he has grown up both physically and mentally and I can see the change in him. This has just come at an horrendous time for him.
"Hopefully he will handle it okay and, if it is an operation, he will just need to come back and get ready to go again and get his pre-season."
Meanwhile, McCoist believes a winter break for Clydesdale Bank Premier League teams, while the Scottish Football League sides are still in action, is another example of the disparity within Scottish football.
However, having won their past 11 games, the Light Blues boss is pleased his Irn-Bru Third Division leaders have the opportunity to maintain their momentum when Elgin City come calling tomorrow.
He said: "It seems as though we're not all singing from the same hymn sheet again.
"One of the leagues gets a winter break and the other leagues play.
"I just think we should all be doing the same thing, whether it's playing or having a break.
"If we were going into a break now, I would have to say that it would be coming at a bad time for us because we have had a fantastic December and the boys are winning games.
"I have to admit, I'm not too disappointed I don't have a winter break."
On-loan Manchester City full-back Wabara is set to play the final game of his current loan spell when Latics travel to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup this weekend.
Derbyshire has already returned to parent club Forest from his own temporary stint and fellow forward Baxter sees his short-term deal at Boundary Park expire this month.
"The one thing Reece wants to do is stay," said Dickov. "He's told us that already.
"We're hopeful that we can extend it. We have to speak to Manchester City in the next couple of days.
"Reece is a big player for us. He's getting stronger, he's getting better with every game. Hopefully Reece, Jose and Matt Derbyshire, we can get them all back.
"I spoke to Matt on Thursday morning. He's got nothing concrete at the minute. He's openly said that if he can go and get something permanent and a bit of security for himself and the family then he'll do it,
but that's not come yet.
"He's also openly told me that if he's going to go on loan in League One then it'll be back to us so we just hope that nobody else wants him."
On Baxter, Dickov added: "The last conversation I had with Jose was that he wants to stay until the end of the season and that was a few weeks ago.
"There's been a lot of games and a lot of things happening over the last couple of weeks so other things are taking priority at the minute."
However, that does not necessarily open the door for new signing Daniel Sturridge to walk straight into the side as his replacement.
Suarez has scored four goals in his last two matches to take his tally to 18 for the season, which includes 15 in 20 Premier League matches.
The Uruguay international is pivotal to his side's chances of making a bid for the top four and a trip to a non-league club on a less-than-perfect pitch may be too much of a gamble.
Rodgers is keen to protect Suarez where possible - even though he knows the 25-year-old will want to play this weekend.
"The players are paid here to play wherever the club ask them," said the Reds boss.
"Every game is a massive game, whether it is Mansfield away or Manchester United away.
"Luis is a player who loves playing, that is why he is here: to play games and score goals.
"I speak a lot with him and I know from working with him he wants to play.
"He is an ultimate professional. There are no worries with him.
"But he's coming off the back of a real busy period where he's given everything in the games and scored goals.
"We have players coming back now, which is great, and having Daniel come through the door and Fabio Borini returning from injury (soon) will be great for us.
"We will pick a team which will hopefully win the game."
It remains to be seen when Sturridge will be given his bow after moving to Anfield this week on a long-term deal, with Rodgers saying: "Daniel is still catching up a bit on his fitness because he has been out for a period of time.
"He's looked good in the couple of sessions we've had but I'm not looking to rush Daniel into anything.
"He is not under big pressure to come in and perform straightaway, in particular because of the form of the team at the moment."
Sturridge's arrival from Chelsea is likely to see the 23-year-old given a chance to play the central striker role he craves.
That has been occupied brilliantly by Suarez so far but Rodgers does not see there being a conflict of interests or an impact on the Uruguayan's blistering form in front of goal.
"I certainly didn't bring in Daniel to affect anyone, it was to come in and make us better," he added.
"The types of players we are trying to bring in are those who are tactically flexible.
"Daniel can play off the right, left or central and that is exactly the same for Luis Suarez - and wherever he plays he gets goals.
"They are the types of players we want, players who are fluent in positions.
"We understand every player will have his best position but I didn't bring in any players to hinder us and Daniel will be a great addition to the squad and I am sure he will prove that.
"There is a difference between Luis and Daniel. Luis has scored goals but he is a different type of player and we have missed a presence always in the box.
"Luis has proven he is a world-class operator but for us it is about the team.
"When he didn't play against West Ham (because of suspension) others stepped up to the plate and we scored three that day.
"It is about building a group which is competitive in training and hopefully that will spill onto the field."
Liverpool finally got Joe Cole's reported ?100,000-a-week salary off the wage bill when the midfielder completed his move to former club West Ham.
However, it came at a price as the club had to negotiate a settlement to cover the remainder of his contract and even with the wage bill a little lighter Rodgers does not yet know whether that will allow him more flexibility in the current transfer window.
"I think for both parties it was the best solution. It hasn't quite worked out for Joe here," said the Reds boss.
"He is 31, has had the career he's had so he doesn't want to be sitting on the bench at Liverpool.
"He hasn't been an ounce of a problem for me at all and I wish him well because it's been a difficult period for him professionally and personally.
"I am sure he will go there and do very well."
