Stuttgart has signed midfielder Konstantin Rausch on a free transfer from Bundesliga rival Hannover.

Stuttgart says the 23-year-old Rausch agreed to a three-year deal effective July 1.

Sporting director Fredi Bobic tells the club's website: ''It's great Konstantin decided for Stuttgart despite many (other) options. We clearly showed him what we have in mind for him and for the team.''

Bobic adds Rausch ''is a young German player who has established himself in the Bundesliga. He can play in various positions and he brings passion and a good mentality with him.''

The Russia-born Rausch, who joined Hannover when he was 14, has played 148 Bundesliga games.

Stuttgart had already signed Sercan Sararer and goalkeeper Thorsten Kirschbaum on free transfers from Greuther Fuerth and second division side Energie Cottbus, respectively.
