Stoke will check on the fitness of midfielder Matthew Etherington and defender Marc Wilson ahead of Sunday's game against Manchester United at the Britannia Stadium.

Etherington (back) and Wilson (back/hamstring) were forced off in the out-of-form Potters' loss to Aston Villa last weekend.

Midfielder Glenn Whelan has trained this week and is fit to return after a back problem.

United will be without Ashley Young for the game after the winger was ruled out for two weeks with an ankle injury sustained against Manchester City.

Captain Nemanja Vidic returned to training on Friday after recovering from a calf injury.

In addition, Jonny Evans should be available after recovering from the hamstring strain that has kept him out of the last two games.
