Stoke sides endure mixed fortunes

Tony Pulis took the majority of his first-team squad to Nottingham, surprisingly including James Beattie, but Abdoulaye Faye missed out through injury. Beattie was one of the more impressive performers for the Potters but neither he nor his team-mates could find a way through. Meanwhile, a Stoke line-up containing a mixture of youth and fringe players claimed a 2-1 victory at the Weaver Stadium thanks to Louis Moult's first-half double. Moult slotted in his first from 15 yards, with the second a delicate finish from close range following a Ben Marshall cross. The game ended on a high for Nantwich as Jake Sedgemore curled in a 35-yard free-kick.
