Peter Crouch scored a second-half winner Saturday to give Stoke a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa and put Mark Hughes' side firmly in mid-table of the Premier League.

Crouch set up Stoke's first goal as well, knocking the ball down for Charlie Adam, who slotted it into the net in the 51st. Libor Kozak equalized in the 66th, taking advantage of Erik Pieters' soft headed backpass. But Crouch netted the winner from close range four minutes later after Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan misjudged a cross, extending Stoke's unbeaten home record to six games.

Stoke leapfrogged Villa in the standings to provisionally climb to 10th with 21 points from 17 rounds. Villa is two points behind.
