Stojanovic replaces Kek as Slovenia coach

Slovenia's football association terminated the contract of national team coach Matjaz Kek on Monday and replaced him with Slavisa Stojanovic.
Kek left the job by mutual agreement after Slovenia's failure to qualify for Euro 2012, trailing Italy, Estonia and Serbia in Group C.
The former Slovenia defender became the national team coach in 2007 and took Slovenia to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The Slovenian FA said that ''without a doubt Matjaz Kek has been a good general manager and achieved excellent results with the national team.''
Serbia-born Stojanovic was appointed later Monday. His first test will be a friendly at home against the United States on Nov. 15.
The little-known Stojanovic last served as an assistant coach of the United Arab Emirates national team.
