Starlet eyes Toon cup glory

The 19-year-old, who joined the Magpies in 2009, was only seven minutes into his Premier League debut when he suffered a dislocated finger against Fulham in August. After a month on the sidelines the Slovenia Under 21 international is now fit again and keen for more first-team appearances. With the club flying high in the Premier League, Vuckic admits he may struggle to force his way into boss Alan Pardew's league plans. However, he believes the Carling Cup - where United will play Blackburn in round four - is the ideal opportunity not only to gain more experience, but also to pick up a medal. "The gaffer has said I have a chance to show everybody what I can do this year," Vuckic told the Newcastle Chronicle. "I hope we can keep on doing well. The longer we stay in the Carling Cup, the more of a help that is for me. "This is a good situation as we get more experience. If we manage to take part in a penalty shoot-out then that's even more experience, so it's all good. We are excited by all of it. "We are happy to play anybody in the competition. We are trying to win the cup so every team we play we are going there to win."
