Manchester City are set to be boosted by the return of David Silva for next week's Champions League encounter with Bayern Munich.

The Spain midfielder has not featured for a month, after picking up a groin problem whilst on international duty.

City have found their stride in recent weeks under new boss Manuel Pellegrini and the Chilean is now set to be able to call on Silva again, although he admits he is unlikely to use him for this weekend's Premier League clash at Aston Villa.

"We will see the next day what happens with David ," said Pellegrini.

"The doctor can say better than me what will happen. I don't think he can play on Saturday but maybe for the next game of the Champions League, I think he could be fit."

City host the European champions next Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium, having opened their Group D challenge with a 3-0 win at Viktoria Plzen.
