Should Liverpool use fringe players against Hull?

Could Liverpool deploy some of their fringe players against Hull?

I think Liverpool’s fringe players could help solve one of our biggest problems. I only say could, because funnily enough I’m not a football manager (that’s only on FIFA career modes).

We suffer from a persistent problem. We can beat the stronger sides, but then we throw away points against weaker opposition. Just think back to how embarrassing it was to lose to Burnley after they’d just been promoted into our league.

“If we can’t beat weaker teams, why even suggest playing a weaker side against them. IDIOT”

For one reason – their desire to win. Just think about it for a second. Our top players know they can and have beaten bigger teams. They don’t exactly have much to prove (which Jurgen Klopp is fixing by making each position competitive in depth).

The fringe players however are eager to show the manager why they should start those bigger games. You can only bet after several games on the bench that Divock Origi will give his all to show Klopp why he should start in the league matches.

Hull can’t be underestimated, so fielding a team full of weaker players that haven’t been starting would probably back-fire. introducing the players of first team quality who aren’t always involved, such as Origi, Lucas Leiva and perhaps Marko Grujic could see more desire added to our team.

Basically, using players that need and want to earn their place could add that edge we need to perform against the weaker teams that usually stump us. A safer way to do this could be to introduce players with something to prove from the bench if the game gets tough, creating less of a risk.

Either way, getting the 3 points against Hull is a must to make our big victories worthwhile.
