Shakhtar inks Brazilian ace Bernard

Shakhtar Donetsk have on Thursday signed Brazilian winger Bernard for 25million euros (£21.5m) from Atletico Mineiro.
The 20-year-old, who has signed a five-year contract with the Ukrainian champions, had been a reported transfer target for both Barclays Premier League side Arsenal and Portuguese club Porto but has instead opted to move to the Donbass Arena.
The left-sided winger should act as a direct replacement for compatriot Willian, who joined big-spending Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in January, while Shakhtar still can call on a clutch of talented Brazilians that includes Douglas Costa, Luiz Adriano and Fred.
Belo Horizonte-born Bernard scored 22 goals in 100 appearances over three seasons with Atletico Mineiro and boasts five Brazil caps having made his Selecao debut in November 2012.
A statement published on Shakhtar's official website read: "Shakhtar Donetsk signed a five-year deal with Bernard. The transfer fee for the Brazilian midfielder, who previously played for Atletico Mineiro, is 25million euros."
