John Arne Riise scored an injury-time winner to give AS Roma a 2-1 win over Juventus on Saturday after goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was sent off in the 83rd minute.

Alessandro Del Piero had given Juventus the lead in the 51st minute, before Francesco Totti equalized with a penalty in the 68th.

Buffon was then given a red card for a professional foul on Riise outside the area when he was through on goal, and the Norway defender took advantage by heading home David Pizarro's cross in injury time.

The win leaves Roma in third place with 38 points, while Juventus stays fifth with 33.

"It was a very important goal, it was worth three points," Totti said. "We're delighted with these three points, especially against a rival like Juventus."

There were few clear chances in the first half and after eight minutes Roma striker Luca Toni limped off with a knee injury.

"It was cold, but it wasn't because he didn't warm up well enough," Totti said. "The pitch was heavy tonight."

Amauri headed narrowly wide with a header from Zdenek Grygera's cross, while Mirko Vucinic shot into the side netting with Roma's best chance of the first half.

Six minutes into the second period Juventus took the lead. Diego's attempted through ball was deflected off Juan and Del Piero hit a low volley past Roma goalkeeper Julio Sergio.

Roma struggled to respond to Del Piero's goal but in the 68th Totti scored his 10th of the season after Grosso fouled Taddei.

Juventus' Claudio Marchisio then dragged a shot wide in the 75th from the edge of the area and Amauri forced Sergio into a sharp save with a powerful header three minutes later.

With eight minutes remaining Juventus went down to 10 men and in injury time Riise was left unmarked to head past Juventus reserve goalkeeper Alex Manninger to take Roma's unbeaten run to 11 games.

"The team spirit is important," Totti said. "We are developing as a team result after result."

In the other match Saturday, Catania beat Parma 3-0 after goals from Giuseppe Mascara, Jorge Martinez and Takayuki Morimoto. Despite the win, Catania remained in the relegation zone.
