Kris Boyd scored his 21st goal of the season as Rangers beat
Hibernian 3-0 on Sunday to go 10 points clear of Celtic in the
Scottish title race.
Boyd netted from the penalty spot after Steven Whittaker had
broken the deadlock five minutes into the second half.
Kenny Miller, who won the penalty after being fouled by Sol
Bamba, put the gloss on the win in stoppage time by racing onto
Kevin Thomson's pass before rolling the ball low into the net.
"The first half was very tough," Rangers defender Madjid
Bougherra said. "We were very patient. The first goal came in the
second half. The game was still open and we scored two more."
The victory came a day after Celtic was held to a 4-4 draw by
Aberdeen.
"We had two draws the last two games and we needed to keep
the confidence for the fans and the team," Bougherra said. "I hope
we do the treble but it's going to be very hard."
Rangers faces a fifth round replay against St. Mirren in the
Scottish Cup on Wednesday and meets the same team in the League Cup
final next month.
